UC Berkeley College of Natural Resources

The College of Natural Resources (CNR) is one of 14 schools and colleges at the University of California, Berkeley. CNR is the self-proclaimed college of "human welfare and the environment." It has four departments: Agricultural and Resource Economics, Environmental Science, Policy, and Management (ESPM), Nutritional Science & Toxicology, and Plant and Microbial Biology. The departments teach on both the undergraduate and graduate level, conferring a wide range of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. CNR is also home to a variety of research centers and facilities conducting inquiries into topics relevant to the four departments.
The college traces its history back to 1868 when the University established its College of Agriculture under the Morrill Act. The College's forestry program began in 1914, which studied forests and wildlands, and the resources and services they provide. In 1974, the college merged with departments studying other biological, environmental, and food sciences to form the College of Natural Resources.〔
